Welcome to a new chapter of A Matter of Magic. I’m starting this series not with a polished lesson, a finished story or a new offering, but with an invitation to walk alongside me as I navigate one of the most challenging times I’ve experienced in recent memory. Like so many of you, I’m wrestling with heavy emotions in the wake of a political landscape that feels disheartening, even disgusting. I’m working through feelings of anger, disappointment, and even fear. For someone like me, who’s committed to living a heart-centered life, staying hopeful in these times has tested me more than I expected.
This is a journey about resilience, about finding a way to stay connected to what matters when the world seems to push us in the opposite direction. My intention is not to offer any definitive solutions or to make it seem easy to stay hopeful when our values feel under attack. Instead, I’m inviting you into the honest, messy process I’m moving through right now. I’m hoping to give voice to what I’m feeling and share the practices and insights that are sustaining me, with the hope that sharing my process might support, encourage, or inspire those of you who are sharing a similar experience. Together, we’ll search for the magic in these difficult moments, understanding that while life’s challenges can sometimes eclipse our light, they also hold the power to empower us in ways we can’t yet see.
Why I’m Starting This Series
Over the past few months, I’ve felt disillusioned in ways that are both surprising and familiar. As someone who believes in the power of empathy, compassion, and heart-centered living, it’s jarring to feel out of step with so many of my fellow citizens. I know that I’m not alone in this feeling; I’ve talked with friends, family, and colleagues who feel the same. But the path through it feels so uncertain. How do we stay engaged with our world without letting the disillusionment consume us? How do we continue to believe in connection, growth, and love when it feels like fear, hatred, and division are winning?
Starting this blog series is my way of processing these questions. Writing helps me see things more clearly, and sharing my reflections allows me to connect with those who may be going through something similar. I want to explore the messy parts of resilience, the tough moments where compassion feels like a challenge, empathy feels near impossible and the days when hope feels faint. In sharing these reflections with you, I hope to spark connection, offer a sense of solidarity, and remind us all that we’re not alone.
My Commitment to Show Up Authentically
In the past, I’ve focused my writing on insights and practices that have worked for me over the years—tools for finding peace, exercises that promote personal growth, and ways to stay connected to purpose. While those are still essential parts of my life and my work, this series will take a different approach. I’ll be sharing as I go, offering a window into my current experience rather than waiting until I’ve fully processed it.
Here’s what that means: you might see more questions than answers. I’ll share openly about the challenges I’m facing, from feeling disappointed in others to wrestling with my own need for boundaries. I’ll talk about what I’m doing to work through anger, and I’ll admit when I don’t feel particularly compassionate. I want to be honest about the times I struggle to find a way forward, and to show how each of us can continue to search for meaning, even when the path feels dark.
What I Hope We’ll Discover Together
In this journey, I’m hoping to find new ways to hold onto hope and stay connected to what matters. I want to explore the practices and perspectives that can help us keep moving forward, even when things feel difficult. Here’s what I hope we’ll uncover together:
An Invitation to Walk Alongside Me
If any part of this resonates with you, I invite you to join me on this journey. My hope is that this series will offer you a sense of companionship, a reminder that you’re not walking this path alone. Together, let’s explore what it means to hold onto hope when it feels fragile, to choose compassion even when it’s hard, and to keep moving forward, step by step. I’m not here to tell you how to feel or what to think. I’m here to share my process, to acknowledge the parts of this journey that are tough, and to celebrate the moments of magic that remind us why it’s all worth it.
So here’s to the journey—messy, uncertain, and magical as it is. Thank you for walking alongside me. Let’s see what we can discover together.

What I Hope We’ll Discover Together
In this journey, I’m hoping to find new ways to hold onto hope and stay connected to what matters. I want to explore the practices and perspectives that can help us keep moving forward, even when things feel difficult. Here’s what I hope we’ll uncover together:
- Resilience as a Heart-Centered Practice: Resilience is often framed as a kind of toughness, but what if it’s actually about staying connected to our heart and our values? I want to dig into what resilience looks like when we approach it from a place of softness, openness, and honesty—allowing ourselves to feel without losing ourselves in those feelings.
- The Power of Boundaries: One thing I’ve realized is that in times like these, it’s essential to protect our peace and energy. I’ll share how I’m learning to set boundaries with both people and information, recognizing that there’s a difference between staying informed and feeling overwhelmed. I’ll explore how boundaries can be a tool for sustainability, not just self-protection.
- Finding the Magic in Small Moments: When big events feel overwhelming, sometimes all we can do is find meaning in the small, daily acts that bring us peace. I’ll share some of the practices that help me feel grounded—whether it’s a morning breathing ritual, a walk in nature, or a moment of silence. It’s in these small acts that I find solace and rediscover my strength.
- Healing Through Community: My hope is that this series will become a space where others can join the conversation. This isn’t about persuading anyone or changing minds—it’s about offering a sense of connection for those who may feel isolated or disheartened. I’ll most likely form a private Facebook group or offer a group call where I’ll invite you to share your own stories, insights, and struggles, because healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens when we’re willing to lean into the support of a compassionate community.
