During the first week of every new year, I set aside some quiet time to put the busyness of the holiday season behind me, get comfy, gather a fresh new journal, my favorite pen, a cup of something warm and cozy up for bit to pause and reflect on where I was, where I am, where I am going. I invite you to join me.
Here are 5 great questions to consider using as journaling prompts to get you started. Remember, wherever you were, wherever you are ... this is a judgment free zone. Instead, this is a growth zone. A place to connect with yourself in a space of total acceptance. An opportunity to spend some time to reflect, imagine, clarify and dream about what you'd like to create in 2023. There will be time for sharing later, for sharing is a powerful way to get your dreams out of your head and heart and out into the Universe where pure potential exists.
But for now, settle into a comfy chair, take a sip of your beverage, take a few deep breaths, write out the first question on a page in your notebook, close your eyes and reflect on that one question. Open your eyes, write your answers.
1. What has been your biggest life lesson of 2022?
2. What hurt your heart and what was the gift of that pain?
3. What are you most proud of in yourself for this year?
As you move forward with the next 2 questions, begin to fill in details and specifics. Things like, who is with you, where are you, the colors, landscape, sounds ... as much detail as possible. And then punctuate the details with your emotions. We'll come back to why the details and emotions are so important later, but for now, I invite you to simply enjoy looking into your future and beginning to intentionally create your 2023.
4. What makes you feel more joy, more aliveness in your life?
5. What do you want to create in 2023?
