Truth be told, I've been struggling lately. I'm an empath who feels energy and with all that's going on in the world, I find myself wanting to withdraw. I knew I was in trouble the other day when I had an encounter with a box of Twinkies in the Dollar Store.
I stopped at the Dollar Store to pick up milk. I simply didn't have it in me to go to the grocery store with my list or to that small market that sells the farm fresh milk I usually buy. It's way too peopley out there for me right now and I just wanted to be in, out and right back home quickly.
I actually bought that box of Twinkies. I have no idea why. I can't remember the last time I had a Twinkie. It's been at least 30 years, probably more! I proceeded to eat all 10 of them over the course of the next 24 hours. What the heck?
They didn't even taste good. I felt like crap after eating them. But it was in that feeling like crap moment as I threw away the empty box that I realized that it was time to do something to get me out of the energetic funk that had me isolating and binging on Twinkies.
My go to when i'm in a funk is gratitude. And google and sometimes ChatGPT. I also needed to develop some content for an online course that I'm teaching. Plus it's November and soon to be Thanksgiving and then Christmas. This is no way to start the holiday season ...
So I dug in and found exactly what I needed to get the focus off the funk and the junk food and get be back to the basics.
Gratitude.
If you know me, you know that I enjoy sharing my experience, hope, positivity, insights, tips, tools and tricks with others, so here I am sharing this with you. I hope you will join me.
I'm committing to a month of gratitude. It's the perfect time. The Halloween candy is gone and we're knocking on the door of Thanksgiving and Christmas, so amping up gratitude it is!
I already do my daily list of things I'm grateful for, even when I'm in a funk, but this month I'm going bigger.
Here's what I'm going to do. I'll post a video, a TEDx talk actually, once a week that digs a bit deeper into gratitude. Each video will present an aspect of gratitude and provides ideas of things we can do in our daily lives to expand our practice and spread the gratitude vibes throughout our lives.
If you choose to participate, you’ll spend just 12 to 15 minutes once a week watching a video and then you get to choose how you'll incorporate the concepts presented in the video into your life. I've already watched all the videos and am already feeling my energy amp up. I invite you to join me.
So who is in?
I'll post a TEDx talk focused gratitude here and on my Facebook page at /www.facebook.com/trisharx1/
every Friday throughout the month of November. Each talk will present ideas, suggestions or unique ways to expand gratitude in your life and in the life of those around you. Ideally, each week you will commit to incorporating something from each video into your daily life for a total of 4 weeks of expanive gratitude.
I’ll most likely share my insights as I move this gratitude experience and I invite you to do the same as we all get ready to head into the holiday season in a more kind, loving and grateful place. You can either follow here or on my Facebook page at
And please, if you've ever had something that resembles my Twinkie funky junk food experience, let me know I'm not alone in the comments!
